| Battery needs to have acid and water added to it! |
| By Mary (Minneapolis, MN) |
The new pump works great. Love it.
The battery is a pain. This battery needed sulfuric acid and distilled water added to it before it could be used. It also unfortunately leaked acid, despite the fact that we put in the recommended amounts of both water and acid.
Hard to believe we'd be relying on batteries like this when batteries of similar size and function are sealed and no-maintenance. Our car and our boat have sealed batteries. And after acid leaked out last night on the basement floor, I was ready to return the unit to the Big Box Store.
We have two dogs that could have stepped in it, which would have been disastrous.
I'd encourage Basement WatchDog to offer more current, sealed, batteries.
SPD RESPONDS: Basement WatchDog has a 1 year free replacement policy on their batteries, just give them a call at 800-991-0466.
A maintenance-free battery of the type the Basement WatchDog uses would be convenient, but also very expensive; most folks would not be willing to pay hundreds of dollars just for the battery. |

| How To Install A Basement Watchdog Primary Sump Pump |
| By Jon Hoch, Founder (Bolingbrook, IL) |
Basement Watchdog is recognized as a leader in residential sump pumps and this unit is an example of the well deserved reputation.
An extremely efficient motor uses much less power than comparable sump pumps saving you money and prolonging the life of the unit. This is all housed in a non-corrosive housing and has a stainless steel shaft and fasteners.
For added security the unit has 2 floats for added redundancy. There is no concern for leaking oil because the unit is water cooled.
If you're looking for a "step up" unit this Basement Watchdog pump would be the ideal choice. |
