Q: Do you know if the watch dog 1050 has a start capacitor or a running capacitor? by Scott from Indiana on January 08, 2012
A: The Basement Watchdog BW Series pumps are designed with a PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) or run capacitor. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: What is the running watts and the surge watts of teh BW1050? by Bern Eckert from Illinois on September 28, 2011
Q: I have Beckett 1/2 hp submersible sump pump (80 gpm) Is a Honda EU2000 inverter/generator (120v, 13.3a) capable of operating this pump in the event of a power outage ?
Thank you by Dick Denhup from Connecticut on August 28, 2011
A: If the 13.3 amp rating is the starting amps listed for that pump, then yes, it would power that pump. If, however it the running amps, most likely, you will need a larger generator. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: I have the exact pump in my basement and it is getting stuck on the on position. It seems that the float was getting stuck, so I cleaned the gunk around it as best as I can and sprayed some silicon on it.
Any other suggestions? can the float cage be changed on these units or do I have to buy a whole new pump?
Thank you by Ayad Bakir from Illinois on June 08, 2011
A: You have done about all you can, but the pump and basin should be inspected at least once every 1-3 months. If the pump runs fine without the switch, the switch needs replacing. You can find the same switch HERE. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Would this pump be suitable for a 12' x 12' basement? by Cody Dix from Ohio on January 10, 2011
A: The interior dimensions of a basement aren't a major factor in sizing a sump pump correctly.
Monitoring your current pump during normal operation and during a storm can give you a better idea of what size pump you would need. by Jim, Product Expert
Who doesn’t like to save money? You’ll end up saving money wit this energy efficient pump. The BW1050 only uses only 4.2 amps (compare to 10+ amps on other pumps) and earns our "Good" recommendation.
Combine that with dual float switches wrapped in a protective cage, it provides added redundancy and won’t get hung up like other switches often do.
Last, but not least this is an industrial strength pump that is rated for continuous duty, so you know it’s built to last.

Bailin' Me Out!
Thanks for literally bailing me out! After 2 consecutive 100 year rain storms, my basement flooded 2 times in 3 weeks. We've lived in the house for 19 years and never had any bit of water. After the 2 huge storms, we got water in the basement twice. After some consultation with my original excavator, we determined it was a volume-capacity issue. Jim did a great job of discussing my application to narrow down which sump pump to get. I needed to get another 1-2 HP pump to fit in my 18" pit and the BW1050 fit the bill since the 1.5" PVC pipe connects through the top rather than the side. It arrived the day before we were scheduled to go overseas for 10 days, so the timing was excellent. Thanks for some great service!

Problem Solver
As soon as I saw the ad on your website, I felt sure that this pump would solve the problem I was having with other pumps. Other pumps I used would shift in the pit due to the starting & stopping torque.
The unique vertical float switch with its guarded float eliminated this problem completely. The pump was priced competitively, shipped quickly and was installed easily.
Thanks for the great quality & service.

Excellent Company
What a pleasure ordering from this company. Before ordering the pump, my husband contacted a representative who was not only knowledgeable, but friendly, courteous and responsive.
After ordering the pump via internet, we received a telephone call from another rep who indicated that the pump was back ordered for a few days. He asked us if that was acceptable (which it was). Very unusual that a company will call to inform the buyer of the situation.
We have recommended this company to a neighbor and will do so to others in the future. Keep up the good work!

Sump Pumps Direct & Basement Watchdog
This is the first time ever for me to respond about a product & service I bought over the Internet.
The Basement Watchdog BW1050 ˝ Hp. sump pump works as good, if not better than it looks. The ease of installation was much easier than I expected.
The performance of the Basement Watchdog is superb & super quiet. When I read all the tech specs and view the manual I judged this pump to outclass all the others that would have met my needs, if it works, only 2.7 amps.
