| Why It Is Called the Big Dog |
| By Jon Hoch, Founder (Bolingbrook, IL) |
The "Emergency" and "Special" models contain some great features. But, the "Big Dog" takes the concept to a whole new level.
It features an extremely powerful 20-amp battery charger that can recharge while it's pumping. Plus, you can connect a second battery to the "Big Dog" to double its run time.
Best of all, it turns on weekly, actively looking for vulnerabilities. For example, the "Big Dog" can actually sense if the backup sump pump is clogged or broken.
While we don't recommend it, this bad fellow is powerful enough to be a primary sump pump.
Yes, there is a chance the Big Dog can malfunction, but the Big Dog will alert you to any issues before it fails. Plus, it's highly unlikely that both pumps will fail simulateously.
The purpose for a backup sump pump is redundancy. Your existing sump pump is likely to run the majority of the time. You want the Big Dog as your back up.
Remember, the system includes all of the mechanical devices. The battery and battery acid are sold separately. |
