I did not know that the pump would have a float whose purpose was to shut it down when the water level got low. I would have preferred to have the one that does not have the flotation shut-off. Had I known about
it I would have had the other one shipped to me.
The reason I needed a sump pump: A patio table with a glass top was blown-over due to a high wind velocity. It broke on the brick patio and sent broken glass into my in-ground fiberglass swimming pool.
In order to remove the broken glass, I had to drain the pool. The pump worked fine until the water level got low, at which time it stopped pumping. I had to tie a cord to the float the keep it high enough to defeat the
shut-off mechanism.
The pump itself worked fine and did a good job of draining the pool. (50,000 gallon capacity.)
I will need it to pump water into an upper basin on my three-tier water fountain which graces my lawn.
Is there any way to remove the flotation device so that it will work in three inches of water?
Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
SPD: There is no way to remove the float switch on this pump. If you're looking for a submersible pump without a switch, I'd suggest looking at the pumps available on our water pump site, www.waterpumpsdirect.com
