Q: What is the wall thickness?
I can't detect the perforated holes from the picture. Are they all over the basin or just on the bottom? Would this be an appropriate application for sandy soil?
What is the largest size pump you can use in the basin? . by JD from New Jersey on December 30, 2011
A: The PeakFlow Big Bottom Sump Basin has about a 1/4" thick wall.
There are holes in the "upper" section. Additional holes can be easily drilled as desired.
Sandy soil is fine, but you would want holes at the depth of the sand. You would probably not want any holes and drill them as desired, up high. I assume in a very sandy area, the backfill would likely be a significant amount of washed stone to act as a filter.
In their testing, PeakFlow has used pumps that stand nearly 2' tall, specifically the Zoeller 282.
Q: Does the big bottom basin a) have screw on lid and b) how thick, and c) strong is the "ACRYLIC' lid, d) does it discolor over time? by Ken from Pennsylvania on December 17, 2011
A: Yes, the cover comes with 6 screws. The clear acrylic cover is about 1/4" thick and quite strong. An average sized person could probably step on it without breaking it but it is not intended to be "unbreakable". It could "discolor" over time by getting "crusted" over by water minerals, but that of course depends on conditions. by Jim, Product Expert
