Q: My basement has been dry, and does not have a sump. But had a main sewer line back up that put 10" of water into the basement. Hoping to find a pump I can place partly down into the single 4" ID floor drain (the cover plate is 8"), with both an automatic and manual switch. Just in case. Are there any sensor/relay based switches with a shorter play than the float switches? Any suggestions on a pump? It would likely sit unused for years. by Clinton from Missouri on April 06, 2011
A: Wayne is supposed to be coming out with a submersible utility pump that will incorporate an electronic switch that will activate in approximately 4" of water and shut off at about 1 1/2", however the diameter of the pump will be approximately 6 1/2". They say we should see it within the next 1-2 months. I really do not have anything in the 4" range. Your best bet would be to install a sump pit along with a sump pump and possibly a battery backup system. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: I know the Simer 3/4 ACE-IN-THE-Hole has a built in check . My question is , would it hurt to add another , just to be on the safe side? by Tom from Ohio on March 14, 2011
A: A 2nd check valve wouldn't be necessary and would put additional back pressure on the pump and reduce the output. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Good Evening: I need to replace my old sump pump and I have an inch and half of piping that the sump pump would vent into and about a 2' rise. I am looking for quality and max discharge as I fight a water table issue, pond is one house over. I was looking at the Simmer model 3995. It has a lifetime warrenty and seems to pump alot of water. What are you thoughts as you are the expert. Thanks, Marty by Marty from Connecticut on March 05, 2011
A: The Simer 3995 would be an excellent choice, however, keep in mind that you typically do want to replace your old pump with the same HP rating unless your old pump has a difficult time keeping up with your incoming water. If that is the case I would only recommend increasing the rating at a 1/4HP interval. For example if your current pump is a 1/4HP, increase to a 1/2HP. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: I'm thinking of switching from a pedestal style sump pump to a submersible style. How is the submersible secured so the torque of the motor doesn't twist the pump and PVC line? by Ken from Ohio on March 02, 2011
A: The weight of the pump is enough to secure the pump. Submersible pump don't secure to the sump basin in any way. by Jim, Product Expert

The “Ace-In-The-Hole” series pump from Simer is a high volume pump that can be used in different applications. Use it with the float switch and it’s a lifesaver in your sump pit. Use it as a utility pump and pump put window wells with ease.
It can be used in pits as small as 12.6” and has a built-in check valve to make installation a snap. The pump is also energy efficient because the motor is only 7.5 amps, compared to other pumps that are 10 amps or more.
If you’re looking for a high volume pump that can pump 5000+ GPH @ 10’ lift, consider this Simer pump model 3995.

Warranty Change
SPD Responds: Simer has changed this product to a 3-Year Warranty. This was a recent change and there is still stock available of this model that has a Lifetime Warranty.
I checked the Simer pump website. This warranty IS NOT lifetime. It is now a 3 year warranty.

Simer Pumps
First off I would like to say that Direct was right on the ball and shipped the pump in record time. The pump arrived in good condition and packaged very well. This pump is very compact because the discharge is at the top of the motor so it takes up less space and fits into a sump hole with room to spare. I actually had enough room left over to drop in a smaller pump with a garden hose connection to help with the pumping.
Although the new 3995 Simer was doing just fine and handling the job I just wanted to help things along. The float switch was set perfect right out of the box, all I had to do is tie in my existing hose to the pump and plug it in. The pump is quite and runs very smooth. It has been running for about a month now with no problems.
I had an earlier model Simer pump model 2960ss half hp which I had installed back in 1991 and has done a trerriffic job but this year we got hit with ( North East) numerous rain storms which caused the incoming sump water to over whelm the old pump 3960 gals per hour. It had a 2 inch discharge but I had it reduced back to 1-1/4 , this made things even worse. By the time I had placed the order for the new model 3995 the water level had subsided using the old pump.
I feel certain that this new pump will handle anything mother nature can throw at it but time will tell. I recommend this pump for anyone who has a small sump hole.

Beast Of A Pump!
Was having problems with my 4 year old 1/3hp pump not keeping up with the heavy rains. Connected this 3/4hp and my expectations was not met immediately. Was still having issues keeping up with the heavy rains.
After a very heavy thunderstorm, I noticed a "geyser" coming out of the front yard. Water was shooting up out of the ground timing with the pump turning on and off. Finding out the real problem with my delivery system was a broken pipe!
This beast of a pump managed to deliver the discharge water through 3 feet of clay and gravel about 50 feet from the house. Not happy with my situation, but can recommend this to anyone who needs power.
