  2 Questions
Q: Jim - with the Storm Pro Maxx, can you use any 12V deep cycle battery (e.g. from Walmart) or do you have to buy the expensive batteries from Storm Pro? thanks.
by Jim from Illinois on June 21, 2012

A: Per the owners manual:

Your Unit operates on 12VDC battery power when in the power fail mode, a UL. recognized deep cycle marine battery should be used.

We recommend:
Metropolitan Industries
Power + Battery
Model# 27-AGM LW 20104

Another option would be the PeakFlow model PFAGM31 12V Maintenance Free Deep Cycle 120AH AGM Batteries.

Basically, they are recommending a maintenance free AGM type 12 volt battery rated at a minimum 120AH.

Q: Pumping gph is not my main concern. when the power goes out I need 6 to 8 hours of pump time. the pump can go on and off every 3 minutes. will a battery backup last that long ?
by John Lakatosh from Delaware on April 28, 2012

A: Your typical battery backup system will provide you with approximately 5-7 hours of continuous run time and 24-36 hours of non-continuous or cycling run time.

Can Relax In Heavy Rains Now
Writing review just after install and so far this is an amazing pump. I ran a second line to ensure proper flow with all the rain we are getting in the Midwest. And the test proved it is just about the same capacity as the Zoeller M98 I have as my main pump. It is heavy and a pretty small footprint so it fit in the pit just fine with the M98.

I am still amazed that a product like this exists and kind of look forward to the next big storm to see how it works. The only install item that... more
Pros: Quiet, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
