Q: is there a sump pump that just sits directly on the basement floor (not in a pit) that will start automatically when water starts coming into the basement?

A: Unfortunately not. The only option might be a Wayne Model WEU250 utility pump. This pump automatically turns pump on when water is detected (Min. 1 1/2") and enters a "sleep mode" when water is not present.

Q: Hey Jim-

Looking to purchase a combination primary/backup sump pump system. Definitely want at least a 1/2 horse primary pump. My current setup has a Wayne SPF50 paired with the Wayne ESP15 backup system. Unfortunately, when I went to test the backup system last Sunday night, the control module read a good charge and when I tripped the float switch, BOOM went the battery. Had the battery not been in a marine case, I'd have been in trouble. I REALLY do like the Wayne primary pump that I have. But I think I want to replace it with a combo system and keep that current pump as a backup if needed down the road. Any suggestions? Thanks.

A: I would suggest the Wayne Model WSS30 Combo System. It includes a 1/2HP Model CDUCAP850 Primary Pump rated at 3150GPH @ 10' and a Model ESP25 Backup Pump rated at 2300GPH @ 10'. The recommended battery would be the WSB1275 which would provide up to 8 hours of continous operation.

 Good Pump / Good Price

I want to start by saying thank you for selling a good pump at a good price. I received the pump ahead of time and in great condition. I have not finished the hook up but I know there will be no more sleepless nights worrying about
a flooded basement. Thanks again and will recommend your products to all.
