Q: hi jim, what is the difference between a sump pump, and a effluent pump by Rick Fillion from New Hampshire on May 25, 2011
A: Sump pumps are designed to remove unwanted seepage or rainwater from an area of the home whereas an effluent pump is designed to remove filtered effluent from a sepric tank to a leech field and are generally desined to handle solids up to 3/4 of an inch. Effluent pumps can also be used as sump or general dewatering pumps where grass clipping, leaves or other small debris might clog the screen of the typical sump pump.
Effluent is defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as “wastewater - treated or untreated - that flows out of a treatment plant, sewer, or industrial outfall. Generally refers to wastes discharged into surface waters”. The Compact Oxford English Dictionary defines effluent as “liquid waste or sewage discharged into a river or the sea”.

My New Man Cave Pump
After hitting my head and slicing my finger because of the small space I was working in, my ejector pump is installed and is working like a charm.

The pump looks and feels well made. Very little noise and pumps fast. Happy so far!
