Q: If a person bought a 12 volt Interstate battery like I have in my truck how long would this battery last. I understand you supply some type of battery charger for this model?? Where would I have the installation instructions to review before I actually buy this unit. by Jerrry McHugh from Wisconsin on April 11, 2011
A: Per the installation instructions, Use only a new fully charged 12 volt deep cycle battery. Electrolyte level must be checked and maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines. Battery sizes that will fit into the battery box are 24C, 24VCM, 27C, 27CM and 27F. You can locate the installation instructions HERE and then by clicking on the "SPECS" tab and downloading the pdf of the owners manual. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: how many hours backup does this provide in case the power goes out. we are looking for a 24 hour back up pump. by Diana from New Jersey on January 03, 2011
A: This system does not include a battery, and that is what determines the hours of backup a system can provide. There is also the factor of how often a system is running that determines the amount of backup time.
I installed this system and a new sump pump after water damage due to a failed sump pump. It took a Wayne engineer to figure out that the float needed to be moved from it's designed location. Then a year later, they told me that I needed a new control box and charger because the system wouldn't hold a battery charge. The cost was almost the same that I paid for the entire system. I would not recommend this if you want reliability or peace of mind.

No Complaints So Far!
I recently installed this back up system. Although things have dried up for the time being, I did pour water into the pit to cycle it a few times and it worked very well.
I only have to lift the water about 5 ft but it drained about 6 gals of water within 3 or 4 secs. I think it pumps just as well as the primary pump i have , which is a good one.
Installation was a breeze, and most people with a little general plumbing knowledge and common sense should have no problem with the install. directions are well written. Now I need to see how well it holds up.

Main pump blew off the backup pump
The first time I needed it something happened. It blew apart and was spinning around in the hole. The basement flooded.
Somehow the main pump blew off the back up pump?!
