Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
Looking down the road, if and when the pump fails / wears out, would I be able to replace it or do I need to replace the entire unit? Hence, would I be able to use the power inverter or controller with other pumps? Thanks.

Answer
These battery backup systems, like any other system are designed to work with their specific components only. If any one of them should fail, you could contact the MANUFACTURER and they would assist you in replacing the specific component.

Answer
If you are somewhat familiar with plumbing and working with PVC, primer and cement, you shouldn't have much of a problem. The pdf of the owners manual is available for download on the PRODUCT PAGE to give you a look at the installation process. It can be found on the right side of the page under the "Specs" tab.

Will the watchdog big dog bwd12120c pump out water at 20ft.
Jim W.
from Minnesota
March 24, 2012
Answer
The max vertical height the Big Dog can pump out is around 13-15’. Anything over 13', it will not be able to pump reliably. It can also usually do around 25’ sideways provided the horizontal run does not slant upwards at all.

I currently have the small emergency backup sump pump (watchdog), which no longer works. I am looking to replace it with watchdog big dog backup system. Would the discharge pipe have to be modified to accommodate the new pump? Also, I just replaced the (6 hour)battery last year and it seems fine. Would it be possible to use this battery with the more powerful pump?

Answer
All of the Basement Watchdog Backup Pumps we carry accept a 1 1/2" discharge pipe, incuding the Big Dog. The battery required for the Big Dog is the 30HDC140S
will run the Big Dog system for up to 7 1/2 hours.

how many hours backup does this provide in case the power goes out. we are looking for a 24 hour back up pump.
Diana
from New Jersey
January 03, 2011
Answer
This system does not include a battery, and that is what determines the hours of backup a system can provide. There is also the factor of how often a system is running that determines the amount of backup time.
