Q: Do you have to use float switch or can you manually turn the pump on and off. it is a Wayne RPP50 - 1/2 HP Cast Iron Tether Float Switch Sewage Pump by Gerald Baker from Pennsylvania on May 10, 2012
A: The Wayne model RPP50 does come with a "piggyback" style tether float switch and can be operated manually if you wish. Just be sure that you do NOT run it dry. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Is it ok if this pump gets submerged in 4 feet of water by Tom Bice (Thomas C. Bice) from Wisconsin on December 20, 2011
A: No problem, however please keep in mind the the float would activate and drain most of your basin and would continue to operate in that fashion as long as the basin is filling with water. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Wayne RPP50 - 1/2 HP Cast Iron Tether Float Switch Sewage Pump. The spec sheet states it runs at 6.3 amps but I have seen other ads elsewhere that show the same Wayne pump RPP50-1/2hp at 15 hp. Which is the accurate amps/ ^.3 or 15 amps? by Gary from Louisiana on May 17, 2011
A: The 6.3 amp rating is the motor full load amps and the 15 amp rating is the minimum circuit amperage required for the pump. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: RE: MODEL RPP50 IT HAS A 2" DISCHARGE. MY TRUCK WELL HAS A 1 1/2" PIPE TRU THE CONCRETE. CAN I REDUCE THIS PUMP FROM 2 TO 1 1/2 WITHOUT MESSING IT UP? by FRED ESPOSITO from Florida on April 04, 2011
A: For sewage pumps, it is recommended that you keep the same discharge size since the pump is capable of handling 2" solids. by Jim, Product Expert
Q: I 'm finishing my basement and I need a ejector pump since my main sewer pump is three feet above the basement floor. I'm putting in a sink, toilet, sink and a wet bar. What type of ejector pump would be best in my situation. by Tim from New Jersey on January 30, 2011
A: What you just described is a standard sewage/ejector pump application.
If you’re looking for a basic sewage pump, look no further than this Wayne model.
For typical sewage removal needs, this pump gets the job done
The Wayne RPP50 is constructed out of cast iron which provides excellent heat dispersion and protection from corrosion. If you want a pump to last for a long time, cast iron is the way to go.
It also features a 2” discharge which is a standard size. That means if you are replacing or upgrading your current pump, you’ll avoid any major plumping changes.
One other feature that earns this Wayne model our “Better” rating is the wide angle, tether float switch.
When using this pump in a standard 30” deep sewage basin, it provides a discharge differential of 8.5”. Without getting too technical, you’re getting maximum discharge every cycle.
Taking all these aspects into consideration, you can see why this gets our “Better” recommendation.

A Great Pump
My application for this pump was not for Sewer by for Sump work. Under my Mother's house in the crawl space, which is below grade, gathers a lot of water. My Father, before he died, dug a 4 ft. hole and put a concrete pipe in it. His sump pump lasted over eight years but when it stooped I wanted to replace it with a pump that could stand the mud and small stone that had troubled his old pump. The two inch opening on this pump along with the legs allows it to function very well.
Since that concrete pipe my Father put in was so narrow I had to adjust the tether on the on /off switch so it would not touch the sides of the pipe. Now it comes on when there is about fourteen and one half inches of water present and pumps it out very quickly. The next thing I need is a quite check value to install because the old metal one Dad put in makes too much noise.
