Great pump except for the plastic impellers that break after about 6 months. I've replaced 3 of them in the last few years.

What I Think About This Product

This pump only lasted 3 years and then I went to a bigbox where I bought the unit but they do not sell the main pump. I had to buy it on line and have it shipped. Sump Pumps Direct did a great job getting it to me. Would highly recommend them.

Manufacturer Response
Sorry to hear that pump only lasted you 3 years. This pump does have a 3 year warranty when bought as a stand alone pump so I would recommend calling our service team regarding this. If this is a replacement pump for our BW4000 "Big Combination System" you may need to replace the check valve for it as well. We can be reached at 800-991-0466 option 3 and are here to help from 9-5 Monday through Friday central time.

My old sum pump was noisy, and worked every few minutes. When I put this on, and test it, i was impressed how great it is,then i was waiting for the water to rise up, i got nervous first, but when it reaches the right level, it went up so fast and Quiet.

Give Me One Dozen Basement Watchdogs To Go! Just Kidding I Am Ju

First of all, I have another review on this pump but I now have two in the pit with a third arriving today but let me explain. I am built on an underground river or high water table and I need all I can get especially since I have a small diameter sump pit. I will have one Liberty pump purchased here at Sump Pumps Direct and three of these Watchdogs all purchased at Sump Pumps Direct.

Now let us do the math. While the jury is still out on the total gallonage these Watchdogs will pump out I believe according to their new instructions and box these will pump 3540 gallons per hour at 10' head height and the Liberty will pump out 3600 gallons per hour so I am at 14,220 GPH with four separate 1 1/2" pipes going from the pit all the way out of the house and to the back yard. Thankfully my yard pitches down and the water moves on from my homestead.

I had a couple of questions so for the first time I decided to call Sump Pumps Direct and wouldn't you know it I got the top dog on the phone and spoke with Jim. He was very nice and helpful. I do want to tell you that in the beginning and all the way until now I am able to purchase and have these shipped with free shipping at a better price than the big box stores now that just amazes me and I am appreciative of his pricing. Thanks again Team Sump Pumps Direct until next Spring and beyond happy pumping!

Great pump overall

I have a standard 18” pit and I get a lot of water. Because the discharge is on top, I can easily fit two pumps in the pit. The last pump just asked 2 years but went through countless cycles and some 2 day runs where it never shut off. When it finally died I did not file a warranty claim because it performed above and beyond what it was designed to do. So I bought another.

Perfect Match Of Pump To Float Switch
By Arlan C.
Buffalo Grove, Illinois
Purchased 06/26/2019 |
Review Posted 07/17/2019
The pump design is solid and well thought out. THe output is through the top of the housing, not near the bottom. The casing is solid and the 1/2 HP model is the best price/performance combination. You cannot find this paired setup in the stores. Those seems to have the smaller 1/3 hp or a package including a battery back up which costs 3 times what this costs. I used my first one for a special pump well that terminates from a french drain and it works great. I bought the 2nd pair to have as a back up for the two other sumps running in my basement. Easy to install and takes up minimal space.

Compact Unit For Small Sump Wells, Lacks Longevity.
By Roger S.
BRIDGEWATER, New Jersey
Purchased 05/30/2019 |
Review Posted 06/22/2019
My basement has a rather small sump well diameter wise so this and a Next backup pump both fit with no issues. But the issue I have is corrosion as the casing's material is made of aluminum so the pump will not last very long.

The well is very active when the rain comes, so it gets a lot of use and I regularly will checkup on the operation of the pump. So this pump purchase replaced the same model that split open in 3 places in the housing. This will be the third pump purchase, and they seems to last about 3-4 years or so.

Almost Exact Replacement

I got this pump to replace the 10 year old BW1050 that was part of a battery backup basement watchdog system. The 1050 pump itself was identical, however the pump in the full system had a check valve Screwed into the pump body, the replacement BW1050 did not include that. Had to make a run to plumbing supply store. Unfortunately they did not have the exact same check valve so some additional assembly was required, since the battery back up pump also has a built in check valve, time was spent making getting the install correct... The Moral of the story,,,, if you are ordering this as part of a system,,, order the check valve that goes along with it!
