Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
My grinder is not coming on. When I lift the float it does nothing. No humming sound or anything. The outlet it's plugged into works and it's not jammed. If it were jammed I would at least here the motor attempting to run. Any suggestions?

Chad,
Unfortunately, it sounds like you are going to have to reach out to Bur-Cam on this one. I would highly suggest giving them a call at (800) 361-1820.
Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

Will this pump handle feminine products down the toilet?
Ryan S

Answer
Thank you for visiting Sump Pumps Direct. In answer to your question, the Bur-Cam Grinder Pump, model 400416T will NOT handle feminine products and could jam if they are introduced into the sewage basin. My only recommendation would be to attempt to prevent that from happening or looking into installing a sewage pump with a 3" discharge. The larger discharge would handle the feminine products and a bit larger "solids" to pass through the pump. Possible options would be the Liberty Pumps - 3/4 HP Cast Iron Sewage Pump (3") w/ Piggyback Tether Float, model LE71A3, the Wayne 1/2 HP Commercial Grade Cast Iron Sewage Pump (2"/3") (Non-Automatic), model SEP4 or the Wayne 3/4 HP Commercial Grade Cast Iron Sewage Pump (2"/3") (Non-Automatic), model SEP5. Please note that the Wayne pumps are rated at 240 volts and would also require the purchase of a TETHER FLOAT SWITCH.
