Does this pump require a weep hole?
Michael J.
from Pennsylvania
April 01, 2017
Answer
While most sump and sewage should have a weep hole drilled in the discharge pipe, this Wayne pump does not require it. This is due to their top suction design. Where most pumps suck the water in through the bottom and underneath the base, this pump sucks the water in from around the top of the base. I always say that, no matter what, it's never a bad idea to drill the weep hole, but with this style of pump, it's not as important.

Is this pump capable of handling water softener and washing machine discharge?
if not, which brand/model can?
Steve K
from Wisconsin
June 06, 2013
Answer
Generally, sump pumps are not recommended for use in a water softener and/or laundry application. Just about all manufacturers will void the warranty if the pump is installed and fails in this application. You might check out our selection of LAUNDRY / DRAIN PUMP SYSTEMS as most of these self contained systems are designed for laundry and water softener applications.

can a theter switch be replaced with afloat switch and what cost differance is there
Donna
from Wisconsin
April 25, 2012
Answer
As long as the original switch utilizes a "piggyback" style plug and the pump and switch each have their own power cord, you can replace that tether switch with any other "piggyback" style Float Switch. Please note however that most "piggyback" style floats will only work for pumps that are rated at 1/2HP and 15 amps or less.
