Still Going Strong--Update
By Marlon D.

Review Posted 08/02/2016
I've had my pump for 6.5 years--still working fine. Since it uses less power, I have it hooked up to my champion inverter generator(100261) in case the power goes out. I can still watch my football games in the man cave without getting flooded out. In 3 more years I will get another Wayne pump replacement.

1st pump came damaged, but SPD promptly replaced it. Great service. Purchased the pump for a spare. I'm happy, happy, happy with Wayne pumps.
Thank you very much.

Really saves energy!
By Scott R.

Plugged it into a Kill-a-Watt and it only draws 450VA vs. the 850VA I measured for the previous pump, a 3/4HP FloTec FPSC4550A. And it's just as fast and even quieter. I compared KWH drawn over 24 hours with the 1/4HP backup pump we have in the same pit and it only drew 1/3 as much, meaning savings for me are even greater than what Wayne claims!
My only criticism is that the switch is integral whereas on the Flotec it's a separate plug, which means you can distinguish a bad switch from a bad pump without taking it apart. That setup also gives you the option of running the pump manually if it's a bad switch, which of course can be very useful if you've got a flooded basement and want it pumped out immediately without having to go out and buy and then install a new pump first.

Replaced Existing No Name Sump Pump

Pump arrived flopping around in the box. Packing not made for this pump as it left lots of space around the pump but no damage to the pump. Pump dropped right into place and connected after cleaning the well and replacing 18 year old check valve with a new one.

Check Valve A Must!
By Richard A.
Jamestown, New York
Purchased 03/02/2014 |
Review Posted 04/13/2014
When you order a sump pump, make sure you order the proper sized check valve too at the same time and install both together. I installed the pump first, it worked fine for few days while the c-valve was on order. Then because of the back flow, a small stone wash back as well and jammed the impeller and the pump quit. I had to take the pump apart to remove the stone and replace the cooling oil that was lost at the dismantling. Now everything is installed proper and running smooth. A lesson learned for me!

If you use a generator for a backup, this Wayne sump uses less amps, so you can get by with a smaller generator. This is a great advantage to you. Check it out.

Replaced a Simmer Pump that gave good service for 9 years. I'm giving the Wayne a try due to energy savings. Works good for first 2 months. We will see how durable it is. Always buy a good quality pump--cheaper in the long run.

Great Pump
By George B.

I chose this pump for its high capacity and energy efficiency. My pump runs from 4 to 12 hours per day so I need high performance and reliability. I have used these pumps for several years now and am on my third one. (All from SPD) I've never had a failure but I do replace them every two years because of my very high usage.
The energy savings is real. This three-quarter horsepower pump pulls less then half the amps of my old half horsepower pump I used to use.
It is also very quiet. I highly recommend this pump.

Quiet and Compact

My old sump pump could be heard from 2 stories away. This new one is very quiet, even when standing in the same room. It draws low amps compared to others, and the pump was small enough to allow a battery backup unit to be installed adjacent to it in the sump. The only mistake that I made was upsizing from a 1/2 HP unit to a 3/4 HP unit. This 3/4 unit pumps so much volume that it removes the water in 5 seconds or less. The 3/4 size was overkill for my application. When it's time to replace it, I am buying the same energy efficient unit but the 1/2 HP pump.

Your pumps are a lot less expensive than the big box stores. Very durable and reliable. Better quality than the ones in the store. After 18 years of using sump pumps and paying the inflated price at the register, will definitely buy them online.
