Seems To Work Well, But Only Time Will Tell

This pump kit, plus a deep cycle battery, plus some 1.5 pvc pipe, check valves, rubber couplers, and fittings make for a nice backup pump setup. Tested and worked great, seems to pump nearly as fast as the main pump.
As others noted, the float trips a timed run from the pump, so the float needs to be pretty high in the crock so the pump doesn't run dry.
Wires were plenty long enough for me, that was nice. Buy a deep cycle marine battery, group 27 to fill up the supplied box, locally for much less. It was cheaper than the other Zoeller kit I was originally looking at, but doesn't seem to have as "smart" of a charger - no auto testing, maybe some other features.I have no idea why these things are so expensive, but it is nice piece of mind when the power goes out, finished basement, etc.
Next time I'd probably just throw a kit together myself for half the cost of this one, which was already only 2/3 the original price. Happy overall with purchase, I just hope it lasts as previous plastic pumps never seem to.

Expert Response
Please understand that this is just a basic backup sump pump system. It does not have features, such as self-testing, that can be found on higher-end backup pump systems.

Good Value Backup Pump For Power/Existing Pump Failure
By Matthew W.

The product is good value. A pretty powerful pump but fairly compact. Installation instructions are clear and I’m putting this in the sump next to my existing 0.5 hour pump in case that fails or power cut. I'm mounting it slightly higher than the existing so it’s not regularly wet.

The old pump still works great just the control panel needed replacing. For the value it was better to buy the complete unit.

Excellent Value & Design

Most DC backup pumps have a smaller discharge. It is easy to set up and has a good design. This is our second one. It is comforting to know that if we lose power OR if the primary pump fails, the back up will the keep the floor dry.

Great Backup

My house takes on a lot of water when it’s raining. My old backup pump was not strong enough to keep up if the power ever went out or my main pump failed. This pump exceeds my expectations and works great!
