Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
With 29.2 start up amps. Will this run on a 15 amp circuit?
David
from Wisconsin
December 22, 2014
Answer
Thank you for visiting Sump Pumps Direct. Unfortunately, this is a question that I cannot answer. As with any sump, sewage or other pump installation, all electrical connections need to be done in accordance with NEC (National Electric Code) and state and local electric codes.

My Zoller pump has a threaded female connector on the body. What am I expected to put between the pump body and the bottom clamp of this check valve?
BN
from California
September 17, 2014
Answer
Typical installations will include the discharge PVC Sch40 pipe screwed into the pump discharge port and extending approximately 2-3 feet above the sump basin cover. At this point, you could attach the check valve and then complete your discharge configuration. This method would allow for an easier access point for you to service your pump.

which float switches will work with the Zoeller N98 with its 29.2 amp start up?
Levi
from Iowa
September 08, 2013
Answer
With a running amp rating of 9.4, any of our float switches would be compatible with the Zoeller model N98 pump. The float switches we currently offer are rated to handle any sump pump rated at a 1/2HP and 15 running amps or less.

Is this pump capable of handling water softener and washing machine discharge?
if not, which brand/model can?
Steve K

Answer
Generally, sump pumps are not recommended for use in a water softener and/or laundry application. Just about all manufacturers will void the warranty if the pump is installed and fails in this application. You might check out our selection of LAUNDRY / DRAIN PUMP SYSTEMS as most of these self contained systems are designed for laundry and water softener applications.

can this pump run continous 24/7. t be used in a exterior feature
Paul

Answer
The Zoeller pumps are not designed to operate continuously. A better option would be the StormPro model BA-50M. While the StormPro pump comes with an adjustable vertical float switch, you can use the pump without the switch. Also, please note that for continuous operation, the pump must be 3/4 submerged at all times.

I am torn between which Zoeller pump would be best for my application. My basement is 104' and currently takes in approximately 3" of water when there is a hard rain. The water is only on one side of the basement and never comes up on the other. Would you recommend a 1/3 hp or 1/2?

Answer
Without knowing more specifics like the water table, area of the country you live in, actual square footage of your basement, etc., it really is difficult to answer. I can tell you that most average sized homes in an average water table area can usually get away with a 1/3HP or 1/2HP pump. Beware of over-sizing the pump as it could cause the pump to cycle too frequently thereby reducing the life of the pump. You don't want to just install a 3/4HP or 1HP pump just for the sake of it.
