Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
Will this pump work as a sewer ejection pump for a basement bathroom or do I need a 'grinder' pump?

Answer
Hello Bryan. In most cases, a standard SEWAGE PUMP will do the job for you. If however, you expect problems from people flushing something other than normal sewage, like baby wipes, towels, feminine products, etc., a GRINDER PUMP would be more effective.

Hi Jim-
I have a 1 1/2 inch discharge line - will this unit, with a 2" discharge port, work with that line? Thanks.

Answer
As long as you are not pumping any solids that may be larger than 1-1/2" reaching that pump, you should be fine. That said, it's always best to maintain the discharge port diameter on your discharge hose or piping, especially if you are dealing with high heads and long pumping distances.
Are you replacing a sewage pump or a sump pump or another type of pump?

How many watts?
Is this pump use regular plug?
Same plug, just like model of Liberty Pumps 257(I have this model)?
If this pump keeps pumping for 3-6 hours, will it be OK?

Answer
The Liberty LE51A is rated at 120V with a standard AC plug just like the 257. The watt ratings are 1140 running watts and 2700 starting amps.
These pumps are rated to run for 8 hrs. continuous fully submerged, with at least an hour off in between.

Hi Jim - can this pump be used as a sump pump?
Liberty Pumps LE51A - 1/2 HP Cast Iron Sewage Pump (2") w/ Piggyback Tether Float
Also thinking of emergency use to dewater a flooded backyard.
Thanks!

Answer
Sure! Because of their higher capacity and small solid handling capability, sewage pumps are a common choice for outdoor applications. Just be sure to keep the electrical connections well protected and if its a permanent installation, please take proper steps to protect the pump and discharge pipe from freezing.
