Looking down the road, if and when the pump fails / wears out, would I be able to replace it or do I need to replace the entire unit? Hence, would I be able to use the power inverter or controller with other pumps? Thanks.

Answer
These battery backup systems, like any other system are designed to work with their specific components only. If any one of them should fail, you could contact the MANUFACTURER and they would assist you in replacing the specific component.

I want to purchase an alarm system for my Zoeller 503-0005 water activated sump pump backup system. I believe this is called an automatic dialer that will call my cell phone if the system is activated. Do I also need to purchase the Zoeller alarm system? What are the model numbers and prices for what I need? Thank you.

Answer
You could go with the Protected Home model BD-5000 Basic Alarm Dialer and the Protected Home model WS-04 WaterSiren Plus. This would give you a 90 Decibel Alarm for when you are home and the added convenience of the phone dialer when your not.
One last option would be the Reliance Controls model THP201 Freeze/Flood/Power Failure PhoneAlert Monitoring System which is capable of calling up to 3 phone lines.

Why does the charging system stay on charge all the time and not go back and forth between charge and fully charge?

Answer
According the the owner's manual, it should alternate between charge and fully charged. I would suggest having your battery tested to make sure that it is able to hold a full charge.

Answer
To be completely sure your backup system is fully functional during a power outage or weather event, these systems need to stay plugged in at all times.

how many hours backup does this provide in case the power goes out. we are looking for a 24 hour back up pump.

Answer
This system does not include a battery, and that is what determines the hours of backup a system can provide. There is also the factor of how often a system is running that determines the amount of backup time.
